Kayla Massie

Organization: International Christian Centers for the Deaf

Covenant Life Church was proud to send out Kayla Massie as our very first full-time missionary. International Christian Centers for the Deaf (ICCD) is committed to making a meaningful and significant impact in the lives of the 70 million deaf around the world, especially in countries where they are rejected and ignored. Founded in 1992, ICCD seeks to meet the needs of the whole person: spiritual, social, educational, and financial. We minister to deaf children in a residential school in Mexico.

Kayla’s passion for sign language began in middle school when she was introduced to sign language. From that moment on she was fascinated with Deaf culture and its language. She loves sign language and working with children deaf and hearing. As a result she chose her profession to be a Sign Language interpreter. IShe graduated from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at RIT in 2009.

Kayla has worked closely with ICCD as a part of their missions trips to Rio Bravo,Mexico in 2011-2013. These rewarding and heart wrenching experiences of serving Deaf children and using sign language to further God’s kingdom led her to becoming a missionary with ICCD in May of 2013. Kayla believes that God is calling her to use her gifts and talents to serve Him to fulfill the Great Commission. Who would have know that God used that moment in middle school to give her a passion for sign language and call her to serve the Deaf community.

In September of 2014 she embarked on her first missions assignment to Nassau,Bahamas with a goal of partnering with a local church to establish a Deaf Ministry and Outreach Program to deaf on the Family Islands. After 2 years and 4 months of hard work and rewarding experiences they (with God’s help) were able to accomplish their goals. She thank God for the Deaf children and teens whose lives were changed as result of their work. To God be the Glory great things He has done!

Kayla is currently serving full time in the ICCD Home Office as the Bahamas Coordinator, Office Support Staff and sign language interpreter. She looks forward to seeing where God will lead her next as she faithfully serves Him in reaching the Deaf for Christ.
